Why we started Buji

Good food, wherever you are, whoever you're with.

Ready-to-eat meals made for adventures, changing plans, and hungry families.

A note from the founders

For us, good food has always been about more than what's on the plate. It's about slowing down, reconnecting, and sharing meaningful moments with the people you care about.

As our adventures evolved from long rides and weekends in the backcountry to exploring the outdoors with our kids, we realized there was one part of the experience that never lived up to the rest: the food.

We wanted meals that were nourishing and genuinely enjoyable without creating another logistical challenge.

So we created Buji to make eating outdoors feel simple: less like a compromise and more like a meaningful part of the adventure.

Because wherever you are and whoever you're with, good food has a way of bringing people together.

Why Buji

Choose based on the adventure.

Buji and freeze-dried / dehydrated meals solve different problems. Here is the honest version.

What matters

Buji

Freeze-dried / dehydrated

Ready to eat

Yes. Eat it straight from the pouch or warm it.

No. Requires boiling filtered water and waiting for the meal to rehydrate.

Water and stove

Not required.

Needs hot, filtered water.

Eating experience

Prepared, saucy, and hearty.

Designed around rehydration. Texture varies.

Pack weight

Heavier because the meal already contains water.

Much lighter and slightly more compact.

Best for

Camping, day hikes, road trips, paddle-camping, bikepacking.

Weight-conscious backpacking and thru-hiking.

Choose Buji when less preparation and a more meal-like eating experience matter. Choose freeze-dried or dehydrated when carrying the least possible weight across multiple days is the priority.
